Tailgate-Ready Buffalo Chicken Wings (Whole30 and Totally Game Day Worthy!)
Get ready to score major points at your next tailgate or college football watch party with these crispy, tangy, and downright addictive buffalo chicken wings. Trust us, these wings are so good, you’ll be the MVP of game day—and no one will believe they’re Whole30 compliant!
This recipe is as easy as a game-winning field goal: just three ingredients—avocado oil, hot sauce, and wings—are all you need. Avocado oil brings that perfect crisp without the smoke, making it ideal for tailgate grilling or oven baking. And for those who like to live on the spicy side, toss in a pinch of cayenne pepper to turn up the heat!
While traditional buffalo wings come with bleu cheese dressing, these wings are just as delicious when dunked in Whole30 ranch (we’re loving Primal Kitchen, but homemade works too).
Pro tailgating tip: To get these wings perfectly crispy, cook them on a wire rack over a foil-lined baking sheet. This not only makes cleanup a breeze, but it also ensures every bite is crispy perfection. If your oven has a convection setting, go for it! It’ll keep the heat circulating for that all-around crispiness. And if you’re cooking a big batch, don’t forget to swap the pans halfway through for even cooking.
Whether you’re at the stadium or cheering from home, these buffalo wings are the ultimate tailgate treat. Plus, they’re Whole30-approved, so you can keep things clean without sacrificing flavor. The only challenge? Keeping enough wings on the table—these bad boys disappear fast!
Tailgate Buffalo Chicken Wings Recipe
Whip up these wings with avocado oil and Whole30-approved hot sauce for a finger-licking, game day snack. Serve them up with some Whole30 ranch, and you’ve got a sugar-free, dairy-free, gluten-free hit that’s perfect for any tailgate.
Ingredients:
- 1/4 cup avocado oil
- 3/4 cup Frank's Red Hot
- 1/4-1/2 tsp cayenne pepper (optional for a super spicy version)
- 3 pounds chicken wings
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 450 degrees. If you’ve got a convection setting, now’s the time to use it to get that heat moving.
- In a small saucepan over medium heat, warm the avocado oil with the hot sauce. Add the cayenne if you’re going for extra spice. Stir until smooth and combined.
- Arrange the chicken wings on a wire rack set over a foil-covered baking sheet. Make sure the wings aren’t touching. You’ll probably need two baking sheets.
- Baste the wings with the avocado oil and hot sauce mixture using a silicone brush (no rogue bristles here!).
- Bake for 20 minutes, then remove from the oven and baste again with the remaining sauce. Rotate the pans—top to bottom and front to back—and bake for another 15-20 minutes until the wings are golden brown and crispy.
- Serve with chopped veggies if you like, and don’t forget the ranch dressing on the side.
Your tailgate just got a serious upgrade with these wings—perfect for cheering on your team in style!
