Let’s be honest — I never thought I’d end up designing clear purses for a living.

But here we are. I’m Carol DeShong — founder of Desden, designer of things I wish existed, and someone who believes game day should be just as stylish as it is spirited.

Desden started with one simple idea: what if you didn’t have to choose between team pride and personal style? I couldn’t find anything cute, clear, and stadium-approved that I actually wanted to carry — so I started designing it myself. What began as one patterned tote has grown into a full game day collection: officially licensed accessories made with fashion girls in mind. Think beaded purse straps, stadium-compliant crossbody bags, canvas totes, and all the finishing touches that make your game day look feel complete.

Of course, I didn’t do it alone. My husband Sonny (the business brain) and I have been married for over 30 years and working side by side for nearly two decades. We still like each other — so that’s saying something.

Desden is actually part of a bigger family story. My father-in-law started our manufacturing business back in 1971 (you might remember those wooden-handled button purses). Today, we still cut, sew, print, and embroider right here in Houston, Texas — especially our canvas totes and many of our bag straps. While some items, like our clear purses and beaded accessories, are made overseas, every piece is designed by me and created to meet the same high standards of quality, style, and team spirit.

We’re officially licensed with over 80 universities — which means every product we make is school-approved, and a portion of each sale goes back to your team in the form of scholarships and athletic support. So when you wear Desden, you're not just showing up — you're giving back.
